And there it is

Well my obsession with the advertising campaigns of Apple Inc. came to fruition.  Now I can play along with my own iPhone.  I'm sure you're wondering why I would post about me buying an iPhone.

 Well I will tell you!

Apple has done something in Business that is truly remarkable.  And I'm not talking about a few billion dollars in cash just sitting around, waiting to be spent on something.  Although, that is pretty remarkable.

I'm talking about their ability to create a pop culture icon.  Apple has inadvertently created a community of people who do not know each other personally.  I think it's truly amazing how owning a Mac or an iPod brings you into a community of people.  And the fact that a computer company has a fan base is amazing!  And I don't mean just loyal customers.  I'm talking about fans.

Prior to Steve Jobs giving his keynote address in San Francisco last week, there were people lined up in the streets the day before.  Waiting in line just so they could get good seats.  When was the last concert you saw where this happened?  Or maybe when waiting in line to buy tickets for the Van Halen reunion tour.  Or maybe to get tickets to a game at Fenway Park against the Yankees.  Or remember back when Star Wars Episode 1 came out?  I was in college and I remember being in line for like 14 hours.  I was studying for finals while I was waiting in line to see a movie!

That same kind of craze happens with Apple.  It's just an amazing thing to accomplish.  Especially since their line of business does not traditionally attract this type of attention.
I'm hoping and praying that I am able to garner this type of excitement with what I'm doing in business.  When you look at it on the surface, there's no way I would.  Why would people get that excited about drum camps?  What's so cool about learning some new beats for your drumline?

Well who ever would have thought it would be cool to have the latest computer?  Or the latest mp3 player?  Now it's so common to be excited about it, that it's not abnormal.

Well I will do my best.  Regardless, I know God will provide.  Boy that lesson has been sinking in lately.  It's great!
